Performance and energy peptides target muscle growth through two different mechanisms. IGF-1 DES and IGF-1 LR3 are modified forms of insulin-like growth factor 1 that activate the IGF-1 receptor and satellite cells directly, with IGF-1 DES’s potency coming from escaping IGF-binding proteins rather than tighter receptor binding; MGF works through a related muscle-stem-cell pathway, though some of its early evidence has since been contradicted by later work. Follistatin instead works by inhibiting myostatin, the body’s natural brake on muscle growth, making it mechanistically distinct from the other 3 compounds here.
