Does BPC-157 need to be cycled?
Clinics run BPC-157 in courses rather than continuously: most often 4 to 8 weeks, then a break of 2 to 4 weeks before another course. Longer courses, of 8 to 12 weeks, are described for chronic conditions. No human study has tested a course length, a break between courses, or long-term use.
Course lengths clinics publish
- 4–8 weeks for acute injuries and 8–12 weeks for chronic conditions1.
- Typically 4 to 8 weeks depending on the indication, with a break between cycles before repeating; one cycle runs a month of 20 injections, 5 days on and 2 days off2.
- Once or twice a day for 4 to 8 weeks, then a break3.
- Some providers use shorter, more frequent cycles, 4 to 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off, rather than extended continuous use4.
Why clinics stop
One clinician stops BPC-157 at week 6 after rotator-cuff repair, and writes that a protocol running for 3 to 6 months without a mechanistic rationale is a signal to ask hard questions5. Clinic cautions on longer use sit with the side effects: one clinic lists hot flashes, blood-pressure swings and liver and kidney problems, which it says appear mostly with extended use6.
What the human studies tested
None of the three published human studies tested a course. One reviewed knee-joint injections, one used a single injection procedure, and one gave infusions on two consecutive days789. The long-term safety of BPC-157 in people is unknown10.
